Construction and Property Accountant

Job Description

Walton Enterprises is seeking a skilled, highly motivated and entrepreneurial individual to join the team as a Construction Accountant. The ideal teammate will have the demonstrated ability to manage the accounting operations of the construction and property management division of Walton Enterprises.

About the Position
You’ll join a top-notch team and handle the accounting for construction projects in a geographically diverse company. You will also be responsible for introducing new procedures and policies related to accounting in the property management department.

What you will do
You will utilize software packages to accurate record construction costs and manage cash flows and budgeting for several projects at a time.

Responsibilities
• Responsible for supporting the accounting operations of the construction and property management divisions of the company to support construction and property management activities
• Communicate routinely with and support construction management and property management on a variety of job-related topics including pay application reviews, retainage, internal reports, bonding, insurance, contract agreements. Process lien releases, final lien releases and project budget close out
• Participate in the formation and implementation of company financial plans for project accounting needs, record keeping, lease payments and the annual budgeting process
• Preparation of all monthly project reports with construction management
• Work with internal accounting/financial departments on monthly reconciliation procedures
• Provide reporting and budgeting as required by Management
• Manage company entity and projected project cash flows
• Interact with accounts payable and accounts receivable staff and functions
• Develop written accounting procedures for the operations staff and work with team to ensure proper implementation and compliance
• Creating new accounting/operations procedures to prepare and help manage a rapidly growing entity and the evolving business structure
• Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information
• Assist in collecting and maintaining construction cost metrics and trends
• Other duties as assigned

Additional Helpful Experience Includes
• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting and/or finance preferred
• 2+ years of Construction Management or General Contracting or Subcontractor industry experience

About the Property Management Department
The Property Management team assists the family members with all property related activities including acquisition, design, and development. They manage a variety of properties including both personal and commercial real estate, vehicles, equipment, and other property related assets throughout the country. The Property Management team also supports the Walton Family Foundation and Walton Enterprises office buildings.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of progressive construction accounting experience
• Experience in job cost accounting and financial reporting
• Understanding of commercial insurance
• Experience in enterprise accounting software such as SAP, Oracle/PeopleSoft, etc.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel including use of pivot tables, charts and graphs, and knowledgeable about other Microsoft suite products
• Highly proficient in AIA suite of documents
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with the creation, upkeep, and management of databases
