Operational Due Diligence Analyst

Job Description

Walton Enterprises is seeking a skilled, highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join the team as an Operational Due Diligence Analyst. The ideal candidate has experience in conducting operational due diligence reviews of traditional and alternative asset managers in public and private markets and direct private investments.

About the Position
The Operational Due Diligence Analyst will work closely with the Investment Team and will have responsibility for conducting onsite visits and performing operational due diligence reviews for investments in hedge funds, private equity, direct private investments, and other alternative assets. Knowledge of operations across various strategies in the asset management business and strong written and verbal communication skills are required. It is anticipated that the position will require travel and virtual meetings for diligence and monitoring assignments.

What you will do

Responsibilities
• Conduct onsite operational due diligence meetings with senior management of external asset managers in public and private markets and direct private investments
• Review and evaluate key processes, controls and systems in place for trade processing, portfolio valuations, reconciliations, capital calls and distributions, cash management, NAV calculation and cyber security
• Conduct regulatory reviews to assess compliance with applicable regulations
• Review and analyze key legal documents and governance policies related to managers and portfolio companies
• Conduct verification of key third-party service providers including fund administrators, auditors and legal counsel
• Document findings and formulate recommendations for improvement of existing processes
• Prepare assessment reports, identifying key risks in legal and organizational structure, operational capabilities, service providers, corporate governance, valuation techniques, NAV process and compliance programs
• Make presentations to the Investment Team and other interested parties
• Perform ongoing monitoring of existing managers and direct private investments
• Create and update procedural documentation of the operational due diligence process
• Stay abreast of best practices and of topical industry trends and regulatory changes
• Conduct ad-hoc projects as needed
• Coordinate background checks as and when required

Qualifications required for your success
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in an investment related role with significant investment operations focus
• Prior Operational Due Diligence experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related discipline
• Demonstrated knowledge of investment operations, investment strategies, policies and regulations applicable to public and private market alternatives
• Strong analytical, presentation, written and interpersonal skills
• A record of consistent adherence to the highest ethical standards of professional conduct
• Ability to work and think independently
• An inquisitive and probing approach to information gathering
• Ability to travel as needed
