Learning & Engagement Assistant

Job Description

Art Bridges is looking for a Learning & Engagement Assistant that will act as a liaison to a portfolio of museum partners and a project manager within the Learning & Engagement department.

About the Job
You’ll join a top-notch team and will support the department and applicants in the creative and administrative work of developing Art Bridges Learning & Engagement projects. This position will also collaborate with other Foundation departments as needed.

About the Position
The position requires an outgoing, innovative, collaborative, and diplomatic professional who is able to combine independent work such as consulting on proposal development, reviewing application materials, and managing project timelines, with collaborative work such as communicating with applicants, preparing content to share with external stakeholders, and coordinating projects with colleagues across the Foundation.

What you will do
You will be responsible for a portfolio of Learning & Engagement projects, often juggling a variety of projects in various stages of completion.

Responsibilities
• Act as project manager by updating project calendars and Art Bridges calendars, coordinating application due dates and project check-ins, communicating with partners and Art Bridges staff, and preparing reports
• Assist with general department correspondence, requests for information, creation and updating of files and records, follow-up reports, etc.
• Assist Learning & Engagement Manager in creating written, video and/or audio based museum education resources and other professional development resources for partner toolkits
• Assist in the creation of partner story content for use on Art Bridges social media and website and in our newsletter
• Coordinate new Learning & Engagement projects in collaboration with Curatorial, Traveling Exhibitions, and Awards & Funding departments
• Guide applicants to encourage innovative, multidisciplinary and audience building learning and engagement opportunities for diverse audiences
• Advise applicants in preparation and revision of proposals
• Help plan and coordinate on- and off-site meetings or convenings
• Represent the Foundation at public meetings and conferences as assigned
• Other duties as assigned

Who we are looking for
You have a proven track record of creating experiential learning and community engagement opportunities for diverse audiences and are able to respond to the needs of museum professionals at every level, from small to large institutions. You are a passionate administrator, detail-oriented, thoughtful, highly motivated, solutions-oriented, collaborative, and congenial, with well-developed writing, communication, and organizational skills.

Qualifications required for your success
• Bachelor’s Degree Required. Museum studies, education, a visual arts-related discipline, arts administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience with experiential learning in an arts-related institution is highly desirable
• Passion and interest in American art, museum education and community engagement
• Demonstrated knowledge of organizational practices and field-wide trends in the arts, museum education and community engagement
• Superior written and verbal communication skills; excellent analytical, critical thinking, and organizational skills with precise attention to detail
• Flexibility, adaptability, and curiosity
• Ability to anticipate and solve problems proactively; willingness to learn from mistakes
• Demonstrated capacity to work as part of a team, as well as independently
• A high degree of competency in the MS Office suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Experience with or ability to quickly learn specialized project management software including Wrike, Smart Simple, File Maker and Media Valet
• Commitment to social justice and cultural equity
• Ability to travel regionally and/or nationally from time-to-time
• Ability to understand and maintain the highest levels of confidentiality

Physical demands
Occasionally, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to travel independently regionally and in communities served. In the work environment described below, position requires working at a desk and utilizing a computer and a telephone for prolonged periods of time and good eye/hand coordination, bending and stretching for filing, and physical stamina to lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a height of at least three feet for art materials storage and preparation and as appropriate for the demands of the division office. Visual acuity to review written materials is required for this job.
