About the Position
We are looking for a self-motivated Ranch Hand seeking long-term employment who can assist the day to day operation and maintenance of the ranch. This position will provide a stable and long-term environment for those willing to apply themselves.

The Ranch Hand will perform general farm work as directed, such as operating and maintaining farm equipment, assisting with livestock care, fence building and maintenance, mowing and baling hay and general grounds upkeep.
The qualified candidate will be expected to assist in management of the ranch in a regenerative manner.
Employment will be full-time and require regular outdoor and physical labor regardless of weather conditions with some work expected on weekends. Must be flexible with work schedule, as this is not a typical 8 – 5 position.

All positions will require the ability to perform tasks without direct oversite supervision, while maintaining a high degree of productivity.

The position includes a full-time residence for the Ranch Hand.

Characteristics that support your success
The Ranch Hand duties will be to assist in the daily ranch tasks including (but not limited to) proper operation and maintenance of farm machinery, tractors, tools, and agricultural equipment is required. Must know how to drive farm tractors. Ability to cut, rake and bale hay. Duties also include building and repairing of fencing, assisting with calving, general cattle care ability/vaccinating, hauling hay to necessary pastures, various project work including land clearing, brush hogging, spraying, mowing yards/pastures etc. Skills in welding preferred.

Qualifications required for your success
• Ability to safely operate vehicles and heavy farm machinery such as tractors, riding mowers, brush hogs, competency at hauling trailers and livestock, and perform regular and directed field maintenance, clear brush, apply fertilizer or chemicals as directed, and set up, adjust, repair, and clean livestock irrigation systems
• Assists in general care to livestock by feeding, providing directed health treatment, and assisting with calving, processing/vaccinating, moving livestock to new pastures, maintaining mineral program
• Extensive building of new fencing and repairing existing fence infrastructure to enable adaptive grazing management (hard barbed, electric high tensile permanent and temporary electric)
• Ability to cut, rake and bale hay seasonally, as well as haul and store hay using tractors and trailers
• Competent in basic animal health and ability to recognize & treat sick cattle (including cows and calves)
• Ability to safely operate farm equipment such as post augers, post drivers, portable power tools, sprayers, trimmers, and chain saws, electrically-operated drills and saws
• Ensures that farm machinery, equipment, and tools are operational by performing routine and preventative maintenance and cleaning farm machinery, equipment, and tools and making minor repairs within demonstrated capability
• Daily checks of fences and gates for proper working order
• Maintain and repair fencing, buildings, structures and roads
• Maintain cleanliness, appearance and organization of ranch houses, yards, ranch barns, pastures, ranch vehicles, and equipment
• Basic carpentry and construction
• Basic computer skills
• Maintain integrity of pastures and land
• Maintain a culture of safety
• Keep property at family and guest ready level at all times
• Assist owners in maintenance and cleaning of homes and other buildings on the property as may be requested, including mowing yards
• Assist owners as may be requested including purchasing items that may be required for owners’ personal use
• Regular communication and meetings with Ranch Manager
• Collaborate on developing and executing weekly workplan; report on progress and blockers during daily/weekly staff meetings to assess and adjust, alert manager to blockers in progress as necessary
• Other duties as directed by the owner or owners’ representative
• Professionally represent the ranch at all times, both on and off ranch
• Ability to work well independently as with others
• Excellent time management and communication skills
• Is a self-starter with strong work ethic and positive attitude
• Assists wherever needed to help with ranch operations – including special events and times when family and guests are involved

Additional Helpful Experience Includes
• Knowledge of plumbing and livestock water systems
• Ability to weld
• Knowledge with maintaining roadways
• Knowledge of adaptive grazing principles
