About the Position
You’ll join a top-notch team and provide expert level guidance for software development, data and analytics, cloud infrastructure, and software integration practices. In-depth knowledge of distributed systems architecture, processing and routing of data for business-critical applications and pipelines, and workload architectures is required. Balancing strategic and tactical leadership is a key to success as both driving digital transformation and ensuring a stable, scalable application ecosystem are mission critical.

Communication skills and business acumen: liaison between our products and developers, business/tech stakeholders and executive leaders. You will guide our business partners to optimal solutions and effectively communicate tech strategy/shared designs at all levels. The successful Solution Architect will have a proven track record for communicating to audiences with little or no technical knowledge and aligning their recommendations to business objectives and the bottom-line.
Rigor: the person stakeholders turn to for technical guidance and advice. Having the ability to provide a confident, clear perspective will reassure the business that they are in good hands and that your solution recommendations are secure, resilient, cost efficient, and operationally excellent.
Technical acumen: youpossess the necessary foundational technical skills (software development, distributed systems architecture, machine learning, cloud architecture, database(s), networking, security skills, modern application architecture, CICD) to build technology strategies and guide technology colleagues.
Who we are looking for
Qualifications required for your success
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related field or 10 years’ experience in software engineering or related field
Javascript/NodeJS, Python, and/or C#
Near real-time stream processing via Micro-services, Google Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, Redis or other distributed processing engines
Strong understanding of cloud application architecture and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, GCP CloudRun)
Experience with hybrid-cloud strategies with Google Cloud and Azure
Strong grasp of data-driven development principles and service-oriented design patterns
Significant experience in building and maintaining a wide variety of integrations and data workflows using cloud native technology
Demonstrated flexibility working with multiple software “ecosystems”, extracting appropriate data, abstracting PII data, and providing a consolidated version of “truth” for reporting.
Experience with relational, distributed, and document databases such as MongoDB, MySQL, Google BigQuery, MS SQL, Azure DataLake
Excellent documentation and knowledge transfer skills

The Information Technology Department provides a suite of services including hardware and software support, custom application development, cybersecurity, networking, and tools for software integration. These services are provided to Walton Enterprises, the Walton Family Foundation and to Walton Family Entities.
