About the Position
River Bend Holdings is seeking a skilled, highly motivated and analytical individual to join the organization as a Director of Accounting. This is a great opportunity for the right person to help build a growing organization. This position reports directly to our Chief Operating Officer and works collaboratively with the other members of our family’s advisory team.


What you will do
The Director of Accounting will work collaboratively with the existing family trust company (“FTC”) and family advisory teams and provide the accounting and fiduciary reporting for the trust company. An important initial focus for the Director of Accounting will be to help develop and/or refine the day-to-day General Ledger (GL) and trust (P&I) accounting and to initiate the fiduciary reporting systems, and then manage the same going forward.

• In conjunction with family advisory teams and Company management, help shape the appropriate accounting structure for newly formed private trust company
• Actively participate with the Company’s and family’s teams in the transition from Microsoft GP to new general ledger for existing trusts; add additional trusts to new GL using established chart of accounts
• Coordinate preparation of fiduciary accounting (P&I), including with all custodians or other service providers; determine most efficient route to production of consolidated fiduciary accounting to meet family and regulatory requirements
• Prepare or oversee preparation of journal entries for investments, trust distributions, expenses and other areas
• Maintain comprehensive and accurate accounting ledgers, reconciliations, books and records, and prepare consolidated financial statements for the Company and all trusts
• Review work of Staff Accountant(s) in the monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliation process
• Prepare or oversee preparation of complex trust (P&I) accounting, including consolidations and clear and helpful summaries, gather information for presentations and build customized reports
• Manage, delegate and collaborate with Staff Accountant(s) to ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting and any special accounting projects
• Develop efficient workflow and internal controls procedures for accounting team
• As requested, assist with or oversee tasks related to relationships with investment managers, custodian banks and brokerage firms
• Provide timely support to trust officers and Company management to provide accounting and asset information as requested
• Provide support to tax department for compliance and tax return preparation
• Maintain on-going review of FTC accounting and reporting to include development of proper staffing for the organization and process improvement
• Participate in mentoring and training activities and work reviews
• Perform other duties as required and necessary to accomplish goals and objectives

Qualifications required for your success

The Director of Accounting must possess the following professional qualifications:
• Bachelors’ degree in accounting or related field
• CPA certification
• Strong technical skills, including knowledge of general ledger systems and Office365 including SharePoint
• 10+ years’ work experience in an accounting role preferably for a Big 4 firm, family office or trust company, either private or public

Additional Helpful Experience Includes

• Work experience in fiduciary accounting with a trust company, law firm or related
• Familiarity with complex financial investments including partnerships, private equity and alternative investment funds and partnership accounting
• Experience with or knowledge of Microsoft GP
