The Peel Compton Foundation is a premiere and growing nonprofit organization, located in Bentonville, AR is seeking a highly motivated and entrepreneurial individual to join the team as the site manager for Compton Gardens and Arboretum. The Peel Compton Foundation owns and operates the Peel Mansion Museum & Heritage Gardens, Compton Gardens & Arboretum, Coler Mountain Bike Preserve, and Osage Park. The uniting mission for these diverse properties is to connect the community through nature, education, recreation and preservation. The Peel Compton Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

About the Position:
You'll join a top-notch team, be a partner to the Director of Operations and drive operational excellence and management at Compton Gardens and Arboretum. You will play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of the building and grounds at Compton Gardens. This is a tremendous opportunity for an accomplished individual to help preserve and enhance a beautiful oasis that enriches the community. The home belonged to the late Dr. Neil Compton and has been renovated to serve as a conference and event center. The grounds boast being the only Level 2 Arboretum in the state of Arkansas and is home to many varieties of native trees, shrubs, and plants.

General Responsibilities:
• Lead & execute the day-to-day operations and management of Compton Gardens and Arboretum, including the house
• Manage the Compton Gardens grounds staff (hiring, training, performance management, etc.)
• P&L Management, budgeting and capital planning
• Secondary duties may be assigned

Operations:
• Coordinate and appropriately manage Compton Gardens grounds staff, maintenance vendors, and volunteers to ensure a quality experience for all visitors
• Coordinate, continuously improve and lead the execution of the operations and maintenance plan. This includes the grounds, the building structures, and facilities while protecting the legacy of native trees and plants on the property along with visitor experience and safety.
• Maintain appearance of the grounds, event space, and office space. This includes mowing, vegetation trimming, periodic replacement of location-specific plantings, pesticide application, litter removal, and clean-up after weather events.
• Address customer requests and emergencies on site and escalate customer or safety concerns appropriately.
• Ensure the site meets budget goals on a sustaining basis. Assist in the development of long-range plans and capital outlay requirements for program/process improvements.
• Support marketing efforts providing social media content and images.
• Support mission focused programming by offering ideas, helping with relevant contacts, and
leading workshops.
• Effectively provide verbal and written communication.
• Provide needed set-up, event management, tear-down and clean-up as related to special event
programming at Compton Gardens.
• Salaried position. There is infrequent need for staff coverage during special events, holidays and
weekends.

Who we are seeking:
• Minimum of a B.A. and 5+ years of horticulture experience
• 5-10 years of overall professional experience
• The ideal candidate has experience in leadership and management and a demonstrated track
record of high-performance while being able to use sound judgement and reasoning to make
decisions
• Moderate facilities management required
• Inspires and motivates employees, instills trust and respect amongst all employees, and accepts
feedback
• Greenhouse management experience required
• Exceptional customer service skills and excellent written and verbal communication
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to perform preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment
• Ability to use common hand and power tools, operate small utility and passenger vehicles
• Adept at using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel
• Successfully pass a background check and drug screening
• Possession of a valid driver’s license

Basic Qualifications
