A private family office with growing business, philanthropic, and personal initiatives is seeking a full-time Communications Manager. The Communications Manager will work under the supervision of the Director of Communications to support the Principal with a cohesive communications strategy across various investment, philanthropic, art, political, and public workstreams. To be successful in this role, the Communications Manager will need to seamlessly collaborate across related company entities and excel at executive positioning and earned media. The ideal individual must be a self-starter who is service-oriented and enjoys working in a team environment that is mission and results driven.
Key Responsibilities
Develop public positions on key issues.
Lead communications related to investment, philanthropic, art, political, and public activities.
Create and execute proactive and reactive communications plans and strategies using all channels (social, blogs, releases, statements, etc.).
Help field in-bound press inquiries and manage media requests.
Collaborate across a network of partners, including various geographies, practice areas, and industry sectors.
Build new and existing relationships with local, regional, and national media.
Draft speeches, messaging, online content, collateral, and other materials.
Support ad-hoc objectives, events, and projects as a member of the team.
Manage and work with related partners and consultants on complex projects. Manage agency support as needed.

Qualifications
Minimum of five years of strategic communications experience with an emphasis on earned media, issues management, executive positioning, speechwriting, and message development.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field. Advanced degrees and/or professional certifications are a plus.
Preferred experience working in a start-up environment or smaller sized companies in a role requiring a high level of client service and project management.
Ability to pass background and driving record checks. Valid passport and driver’s license. Willingness to sign a Confidentiality Agreement.
Additional Helpful Experience
Experience working in public relations agencies, consulting firms, or other communications advisory organizations.
Experience in corporate communications, internal communications, employee engagement, corporate social responsibility, thought leadership, executive positioning, issues/crisis management, media relations, media training, C-level exposure, and community relations.
