River Bend Administration is seeking a skilled and highly motivated tax professional to join the organization as a Senior Tax Accountant. This is an exciting opportunity to support the trust tax compliance needs for a multi-generational family. This position reports to the Director of Tax and works collaboratively with other members of the Family Trust Company (“FTC”) team and the family’s advisory team.
What you will do
The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for managing the annual tax planning and compliance processes for the various trusts within the FTC, under supervision of the Director of Tax. The role provides exposure to several different trust structures, all of which have their own unique challenges and complexities. Specific responsibilities will include:
Preparing or reviewing federal and state tax returns for simple trusts, complex trusts, and charitable split-interest trusts
Gathering tax information and preparing the tax workpapers on a quarterly and annual basis
Ensuring compliance with reporting requirements for cross border tax compliance, such as foreign partnerships
Conducting tax research, drafting tax memoranda, and composing quantitative projections and models
Identifying and communicating significant tax matters to the Director of Tax and FTC colleagues
Communicating complex tax issues to non-tax professionals and colleagues
Liaising and developing relationships with our outside accountants, legal team, and other advisors
Recognizing and reacting to risks and opportunities to improve our services and processes
Performing other duties as required and necessary to accomplish goals and objectives

Qualifications required for your success
The Senior Tax Accountant must possess the following professional qualifications:
A bachelors’ degree from an accredited university
3-5 years’ work experience in professional services or professional tax organization
Experience preparing federal and state trust income tax returns
Experience managing projects and corresponding with teammates, supervisors, and stakeholders
Proficiency with tax preparation and research software such as CCH and RIA
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word, SharePoint, etc.)
A commitment to continuing your learning and development
Able to interact diplomatically with all levels of River Bend staff, clients, and outside contacts
Additional Helpful Experience and Qualifications Includes
Experience with Gift and Estate planning is a plus
Have obtained or have active progress towards a CPA certification (or equivalent)
Work experience at a Big 4 firm, financial institution, or family office
