About the Role
We are seeking an experienced advisor to join our team. This advisor will support a principal’s desire to achieve positive social and environmental impact through strategic thought partnership and execution support. Additionally, this advisor will serve as a primary point of contact for one of our principals, coordinating various wealth planning, business advisory, and other initiatives on behalf of the principal across Walton Enterprises and its partners.
This role is multi‐faceted and dynamic in nature, involving close coordination across the Walton Enterprises and external partners and organizations. Responsibilities may range from being the primary point of contact for the principal on all financial matters to acting as a collaborative thought partner on the development and execution of an innovative investment strategy or project. A sincere interest in innovative financing structures and catalyzing positive societal and environmental change through a human‐based approach is integral to the role.
What You Will Do
Serve as an advisor to the principal and assume a client service role to effectively anticipate and respond to their needs and requests
Wealth Planning
Lead strategic discussions with the principal to develop personal wealth objectives and goals
Recommend, implement, and monitor an overall financial plan based on personal objectives and goals, taking a wholistic approach and view
Digest and summarize complex financial data into actionable information and reports
Incorporate and consider relevant aspects of estate planning, tax & accounting, investment management, and personal philanthropic strategy and non‐profit capital allocation
Business Advisory
Advise principal on wide‐ranging business and investment activities, confidently toggling between a variety of skillsets, assets classes, and project
Provide guidance and investment expertise to source and evaluate potential business and investment opportunities that align with the principal’s visions and values
Coordinate due diligence and detailed financial analysis on potential acquisitions and direct and fund investment opportunities
Contribute to refining the theory of change for the principal’s portfolio by identifying key trends across sectors of interest
Facilitate and coordinate deal execution
Provide ongoing consultative support to principal with regard to direct investments and operating businesses
Resource Coordination
Coordinate and ensure high‐quality service delivery to principal in an efficient and cost‐ effective manner across wealth planning, tax, accounting, investment, and other similar services
Liaise with and coordinate advice from WEI teams and external resources to enable principal to effectively make decisions based on wholistic viewpoint
Requirements & Preferences for the Role
15 years of work experience required, which could include time in the private, public, philanthropic, or nonprofit sectors in the S. or internationally.
Experience in direct investments and overall financial strategy is highly desired.
Bachelor’s degree, as well as an advanced degree in Finance or Business (such as an MBA), or professional investment certification (CFA, CAIA, CFP)
Strong analytical skills
A creative mindset, high level of maturity, and sound judgment
Familiarity across investment asset classes with particularly strong knowledge of alternative investments (notably private equity, venture capital and real estate)
Understanding of ESG/Impact investing strategies and options
Strong communication and presentation skills; experience presenting financial recommendations and investment options in a comprehensive and understandable way
Familiarity with various wealth planning techniques and structures
Capable of working in a team setting
Capable of seeing the overall picture and placing individual decisions in context
Able to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and multi‐task, with high attention to detail
Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment, including reprioritization or reassignment of responsibilities
Professional demeanor with demonstrated ability to maintain discretion in dealing with highly confidential information
Able to professionally represent the organization and principal
Interest or experience in early‐stage companies and organizations with creative social impact approaches
