Walton Enterprises is seeking a skilled, highly motivated and entrepreneurial individual to join the organization as a Senior Tax Accountant. This position reports directly to our Senior Tax Manager and works collaboratively with the members of our expanding tax team.

Senior Tax Accountants will perform detail level review of individual, fiduciary, partnership, estate and gift workpapers and tax returns. You will participate in meetings and consult on projects related to tax planning opportunities and implications. You will oversee/assist with miscellaneous tax projects and conduct research to support the tax planning opportunities helping our principals make informed and strategic decisions based on their personal objectives. You will assist in training, mentoring, and supervising new staff as well as participate in and contribute to the goals of the department.
Responsibilities to include, but not limited to
Perform detail reviews of all aspects of tax engagements including planning and preparation, for individual income tax, business tax, and philanthropic returns as appropriate
Prepare and review and technical tax research, analysis, and written memorandums
Prepare and review quarterly income tax projections
Assist with management of federal and state tax notice responses and potential audits
Interact with the client and their advisors
Train and mentor staff level associates, ensuring proper execution of assignments
Recognize technical issues, reach appropriate conclusions, and be able to discuss with managers applying authority to support conclusions
Participate in training and seminars as well as present internally on technical issues
Offer ongoing status updates to management and to the engagement team
Who we are looking for
Qualificationsrequiredforyoursuccess
The Senior Tax Accountant should possess the following attributes/experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college/university
Minimum of 2 years tax compliance and advisory skills with focus on high-net-worth individuals, flow-through entities, or family office tax experience.
CPA certification or CPA exam ready
Public accounting experience, Big 4 strongly preferred
Excellent analytical, technical, and tax accounting/technology skills with proficiency in tax compliance
Ability to perform tax research to assist with tax consulting projects
Experience with state & local taxation, including franchise and multi-jurisdiction income tax
Proven ability to work on multiple client engagements and adhere to tax deadlines
Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to instruct and mentor staff on a project level basis
Experience with tax preparation and research software products such Thompson Reuters, CCH, BNA Income Tax Planner, and Bloomberg BNA
Additionalhelpfulexperience includes
Advanced degree such as MST, MAcc, JD, or LLM
Experience in investment partnerships such as hedge funds, private equity, or real estate
Experience with foreign reporting common to high net worth investing and foreign tax credit utilization, and tax minimization

Tax: The Tax Department provides a suite of services including partnership, private wealth, federal, and state income tax compliance and planning. The tax team serves as family advisors and assists in tax planning and strategy. They also support Walton Enterprises, Walton Family Foundation, and a variety of businesses
